The Great Pacific Garbage

The Great Pacific Garbage Patch, also known as the Pacific trash vortex, spans waters from the West Coast of North America to Japan. The patch is actually comprised of the Western Garbage Patch, located near Japan, and the Eastern Garbage Patch, located between the U.S. states of Hawaii and California.
While oceanographers and climatologists predicted the existence of the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, it was a racing boat captain by the name of Charles Moore who actually discovered the trash vortex. Moore was sailing from Hawaii to California after competing in a yachting race. Crossing the North Pacific Subtropical Gyre, Moore and his crew noticed millions of pieces of plastic surrounding his ship

How are we dealing with the Great Pacific Garbage Patch? | by The Beam | MediumThese dangers are compounded by the fact that plastics both leach out and absorb harmful pollutants. As plastics break down through photodegradation, they leach out colorants and chemicals, such as bisphenol A (BPA), that have been linked to environmental and health problems. Conversely, plastics can also absorb pollutants, such as PCBs, from seawater. These chemicals can then enter the food chain when consumed by marine life.

 Perspective for -

The Beatles tour in NZ 1964 was for the youth of New Zealand.
This was because when the Beatles arrived in New Zealand at
Wellington Airport on 21 June 1964, they were cheered on by crowds
of rapturous youths. For devotees of popular music, in the mid-1960s
the four Liverpudlians were simply the greatest musicians in their general
anywhere in the world. Of course, looking back at the images of throngs
of hysterical girls with faces pressed hard against wire fences, screaming
themselves hoarse as they caught a glimpse of their musical idols, it all
seems a bit ridiculous, a bit excessive.

Perspective against -
The Beatles tour was bad for older generations because when the elderly and
widowed ratepayers were having difficulty in finding their rates, the letter
said the utmost discretion should be shown in the holding of a civil reception ...
Mr Robinson said the reception would cost £60. The decision to extend a
mayoral welcome had been made by himself. “Last week,he said,
“there was a reception for the Vienna Boys' Choir. Next week there will be one
for Arthur Rubinstein. We cannot set ourselves up as judges of who should
get a reception and who should not.... Mr T. H. Pearce said he was wondering
what council policy was on such matters. “Last evening,he said, I welcomed
home a team of footballers. There were all fine young men, but there was no
civic or mayoral reception for them. If we are going to pander to the hysteria,
antics, adulation, rioting, screaming, and roaring and all the things these
bewigged musicians engender, then I think we should make a point of honouring
any youths with a sporting background who are at least endeavouring
to act in the best traditions of the young men of this nation.

Narrative Openings

A burning storm, a raging storm of heat claimed the house as it's territory, as it's home. The man stood their tears flowing down his face knowing he couldn't save them.

She sat their waiting for it to come, waiting for something bad to happen something to jump at her, but all she got was a text. The weight of her phone surprised her even though she has had it for year. But what shocked her was the text itself saying"See you soon".

The Long grass and the mist made it feel like a horror film, it felt like the final scene. Where the Antagonist was about to go away forever, but the two girls didn't think so, they thought it might've just began. When their light went out

She picked up the cold peas from the frozen vegetable section, she felt tremble away the ice between the peas, she also felt a sudden sense of something happening. She felt someone staring, but it went away.
Then she felt a cold, leather glove on her shoulder.

Everybody was stressed or nervous, studying was boring for most people, you could say that when people say they want to become a teacher they always replied with "Wait you want to go back to school?"
Some will say yeah but most will say no, except for this one.

It's in the house, in the kitchen downstairs.

Show don't tell - English

 "The buildings were tall"

The buildings were menacing in height with their neon lights making fit in with the rest.

"Sarah was really upset"

Sarah was lying down, emotions rolling in, getting the news of what happened and knowing she might never see them again. She didn't even notice the tears rolling down her face.

"She was so happy to see him"

She saw him and ran to him, with the expression you have on your 1st birthday.

"The lake was beautiful"

The lake stood while the it reflected it's lights, making good seem the wrong word for it, beautiful seemed to fit.

"It was stunning"

It was something angels would be jealous, something that I could steer at for ages not caring how odd I look doing it.

Emotions aren't good or bad. They are messages

Today for Wananga we've been talking about different types of emotions (bad emotions and good emotions).

(Bad emotions)
I reckon that depression is probably one of the worst, upsetting emotion that anyone could ever go through!. The reason why I say this is because for me myself I've gone through depression and honestly, its not a good feeling. It messes up your brain by over reacted, thinking about bad memories that's happened in the past. I'm gonna be telling you what depression is like for me and how it started.

So last year in March (13th) I tragically lost my dad. Having that type of experience is really hard. I guess ever since then I haven't felt the same. That's when the feeling (depression) finally came into my life. I kept on thinking about all of the bad stuff that I've done over the past years. I kept on thinking about suicide because of how I lost my dad.
I got through all of the negative/bad emotions by family been helping me and friends that are supporting me.

That's a type of feeling that people go through, Its really to get out of the negative/depression side. Some feeling could be less negative like just Angry, Sad, Lonely, Upset and many more.

(Good emotions)
Good emotions are emotions that make you happy, Its a emotions that is easily to control because there's no bad thoughts/negative emotions around. There's times where I could feel like I can do anything because I feel so alive. When I'm playing football/Soccer I feel like I'm in a good mood because its something that I love doing for life.
Words that share the same feeling as good emotions:
Positive.
Happy.
Excited.
Alive.
Joy and many more.

Social Studies - Spirituals/slaves.

Use of Spirituals

The use of spirituals was that it gave them hope. Music was a way for slaves to express their feelings whether it was sorrow, joy, inspiration or hope. Songs were passed down from generation throughout the time of slavery. These songs were controlled by African and religious tradition.

Harriet Tubman

Harriet Tubman was a famous slave helper and used songs to message slaves and help African slaves escape the border, they would go trough the rivers to remove the scent because the dogs could track them down. Thousands of people got saved and became free because of one lady, there were several slave helpers but the most of popular was Harriet Tubman because of all of the people that she helped. They travelled from the south to the north of America, which was the safe part of America because they could be free. The Africa slave swore not to return. Harriet Tubman did this over and over again helping many more people.

Spiritual Message (Highlights)

One of the songs that they would sing was "Steal Away"

Chorus: steal away, steal away!

Steal away to Jesus?
Steal away, steal away home!
I ain't got long to stay here!
My Lord calls me!
He calls me from the thunder!
The trumpet sound it in my soul!
I ain't got long to stay here!

My lord calls me!
He calls me by the lighting!
The trumpet sound it in my soul!
I ain't got long to stay here!

Fun Run Experience

Hello readers today I'm going to be talking about my personal experience for the Fun Run. For me myself it was a really fun/amazing thing to do with all of the year 7's to 10's students who participated in the event. The reason why we decided to do the Fun Run on Wednesday 18th of November was because our school wanted to raise money for KidsCan who have helped our school so much by giving our students new school shoes/socks for our students who don't have the correct shoes or socks.

My favourite thing about the event was getting colour boomed because there was so many colours on our white tops that we were wearing. Maybe for next time they could add more laps like 3 to 5 laps because I'm more of a long distance runner and more activity's like more then just one water slide. The other thing that I didn't like was the water cans, they didn't taste good at all, for me myself it kinda tasted like sparkling water which is disgusting.

But when we got to do it again with everyone joining this time I just reckon it got so much better because there were so much that we can just randomly talk too. I also thought that when the police came was really fun because they at water guns with them as well...

But since the day was so much fun I really did have a great time just running around and getting colour boomed. I hope you enjoyed my blog please leave a positive, helpful and a thoughtful comment down below.

Health

Kia ora everyone, today for Health me and Levi have been looking at different topics that are related to Health. We got to choose a few options about what we wanna study about. Me and Levi decided to work on Weed/Steroids. The reason why we wanted to do these two options is because for me and him it would be a cool experience finding more information about these topics.

What I'm really proud of is that me and Levi ended up having a argument about the design but we both decided to just go with some basic designs.

Things that I wish we could of done better was do it on a bigger paper so we can write some small paragraphs around the side.

Here's a photo of mine and Levi's design that we both created. We ended up using paper for our design because we both thought that it would be a lot easier just doing it on paper...

Here's some small information about weed and steroids hope you enjoy the slide show

I hope you learnt something new about these too topics please leave a positive, helpful and a thoughtful comment down below

Dystopia And Utopia

Hello bloggers today we have been learning about Dystopia and Utopia. Dystopia is where there's chaos and everything is burnt to dust. here's a photo of what it would look like.

Basically there's fire everywhere, everyone is killing each other, no rules set on bound.

Dystopia can also mean that the world is getting worse and a lot of bad situations are happening around the world

Utopia means a peaceful world when everything is perfect and their's no hate are negative vibes around the world.

Everyone is happy and everyone is enjoying their lives.
People can enjoy their favourite food and eat healthy food and
enjoy the junk food plus they can drink water or fizzy.

I wanna learn how we can keep our own world peaceful.

And I wanna know if we can all afford to have a food everyday well not everyday but any day that we want.

Leadership

 Leadership

Today we have been talking about Leadership and what it means, leadership means The success of a structured organisation depends on effective leadership. Executive leaders are responsible for determining and guiding the direction and purpose of an organisation by setting and achieving goals. There are many other leaders critical to the success of a business.Leaders help themselves and others to do the right things. They set direction, build an inspiring vision, and create something new. Leadership is about mapping out where you need to go to "win" as a team or an organisation; and it is dynamic, exciting, and inspiring.

A leader inspires others to act while simultaneously directing the way that they act. They must be personable enough for others to follow their orders, and they must have the critical thinking skills to know the best way to use the resources at an organisation's disposal. For me myself I've been coaching the year 7 and 8 sports since the start of term 2 and then the end of term 3. Its been a really good experience being a leader for all the year 7's and 8's.
Here's some posters of my work that shows leadership and what it is, I hope you've enjoyed my blog please leave a positive, helpful and a thoughtful comment down below.

    Art - Photo shoot

     Photo Shoot.

Hello Everyone today we have been doing a lot of photo shoots for the last 2 weeks now. We had to use small army soldiers. We could either use an I pad or our phone, we could either be in a group of 2 or 3. When we finally got into our groups we decided to use the I pad from the student reception. We toke a few photos of the army soldiers in different places like the Playground, the green space and the Wood room.

We had to put them in different positions as well, we were able to use 8 to 10 army soldiers. I wasn't able to get the photos sent to me because the person that was mean't to send them photos to me wasn't able to download them sadly.

I couldn't find the correct soldiers that we were using to take photos of but these are similar ones that we were using to do the photo shoot.

I hope you enjoyed my blog.

    Sports experience.

    Before Lock down had started.
Hello everyone, today I'm going to be talking about my experience for year 9-13 sports this year. The sport that I've been playing is "football". Football is a common sport for me because I've been playing it my whole life. This year was my second year playing in the year 9-13 football team, In term 1 I was doing indoor football until the end of term 2, sadly around term 2 we had to stop playing indoor football because of Covid 19. The thing that bothered me the most was that we weren't able to play indoor football until term 2 was finish.

After lock down was finally finished
After lock down was finally finished we started playing outdoor football. Outdoor football was a competitive competition. We lost a 3 to 4 games but we ending up making it to the top 3. September 17th was our final games against Cashmare which was a pretty hard team to vs, We were also in the senior division so it was a lot harder for the some of the players like me, The game score at the end was 3-0 to us.

Now next term I'll be doing indoor football competition, This one is a lot easier because its a smaller court and there's no outs/off sides, I hope this year we place 1st because last year we placed 2nd.
